The bad review above, about the fizzing, makes me think this product is the same as "Phosclear"...a mix of Alum and alkaseltzer...the alka seltzer (sodium carbonate) buffers the alum acid effect. I applied 60 pounds of Phosclear (1 1/2 containers) to my 1/10 acre, 0.4 acre-feet, pond, which is four years old with a heavy load of bluegill and gamefish located in south Texas. I mixed it into buckets of water and tossed about the pond...when the bubbling alka seltzer comes up to the edge of the bucket, toss it. Clarity went from 18 inches in September to four feet in November. The immediate response was somewhat disappointing, but over a month, here came clear water and we could see our fish swim around. No other floc or bacterial treatment has produced such a good result. Now I have to check the remaining twenty pounds to see if it solidified...

Pond Clarifier Got solid as a rock

My 3/4 acre pond was very clear in May, could see down 8 feet. By July the water was cloudy and could only see down 2 feet. I bought 40 lb Pond Clarifier. Mixed 5 lbs with 20 gallons water and sprayed it around my pond, it mixed well. A week later I did it again, no problem. A week later I went to do it again and the rest of the Pond Clarifier was hard as a rock. I keep the pail in an attached garage with the lid on, so it is protected. I had to use a flat drill bit to try and break it up, that did not work well, it just made holes in the clarifier. Tried to add water and the whole pail started to bubble up and overflow all over the place. Sorry but this did not work well.
